San Francisco’s Iranian Film Festival to screen ‘Bystander’

The 11th Iranian Film Festival in San Francisco is to screen Iranian short animation ‘Bystander’.

The 11th edition of the Iranian Film Festival (IFF) in San Francisco has scheduled to screen Iranian short animation ‘Bystander’.

Directed by Sheyda Kashi, ‘The Bystander’ is a cinematic depiction of society that does not accept differences and is heading for annihilation.

It is about an old man who is living behind a window from where he sees a dark world and remembers his past when he was an active revolutionary.

The animation recently won Best Animation award at the 2018 Light of the World Film Festival in Russia, the second prize in the animation or experimental film section of the 21st Faludi International Youth Film Festival and Photo Competition in Hungary, and an award at “Творящие добро” section of the 2018 International Festival of Cinema and Television Taganay muses in Russia.

It was also screened at several film events, including the 4th Tehran International Animation Festival, the 15th Tirana International Film Festival in Albania, the 2nd Festival Universitaire International Ciné-Lettres D’Agadir in Morocco, the 2018 Balkan Can Kino Film Festival in Greece, the 2018 Adelaide International Women’s Film Festival in Australia, the 14th Detmold International Short Film Festival in Germany, and the 3rd International Cefalu Film Festival in Italy.

Iranian piece is also scheduled to go on screen at the 1st Oregon Cinema Arts Film Festival in the US, the 5th Arkadia ShortFest International Shortfilm Festival in Romania, and the 2018 FIFAK- International Amateur Film Festival of Kelibia in Tunisia.

The IFF - San Francisco, is an annual event showcasing independent feature and short films made by or about Iranians from around the world. Launched in 2008, it is an independent Iranian film festival.

The 11th edition of the IFF is slated for September 22-23, 2018.
